There are now two touch sensors, an ultrasonic (distance) sensor, and the color sensor. The new color sensor boasts three functionalities. It can detect colors (6 basic colors), measure light intensity, and act as a lamp (emitting a red, blue, or green light). Unlike the 1.0 set, there is no light sensor or sound sensor: the new color sensor can function as a light sensor, and LEGO apparently thought that having two touch sensors would be more useful than having one touch sensor and one sound sensor as in the 1.0 set.

Hasbro Electronic Catch Phrase

This game is really fun, great for a group. It would have been infinitely better if there were a way to add more words to its dictionary though - an expansion slot, with add-on packs would have been a great idea.

As-is it's fun, but just doesn't have enough words. I took it on a camping trip and it was fun for 2 hours, until we ran out of new words. For $10 it's great. For its regular price of $25-30, not so much.

We have given this toy as gifts and played with it with many friends and everybody has appreciated and enjoyed playing with it. We have an older version and a new one. The older one has easier words but the buttons were not labeled well. The newer version has more phrases so it is a little more difficult but the problem is that the tiny electronic screen is hard to see unless the machine is held right in front of you. This does prevent your neighbors on either side "accidentally" seeing the word or phrase. The buttons on the new one are very clearly marked so mistakes don't happen. The older one had a voice that would announce the score of each team and at the end would exclaim "team 1 (or 2) wins!". The new one just displays this information on the previously mentioned tiny screen. Overall this is a game that is well worth having at home.

I was a Kickstarter supporter of this game, and I have also purchased additional copies to give to friends. I'm a big fan. However, at almost exactly double the price-per-card of the main game (9 cents vs. 4.5 cents) I had some high expectations. I was hoping for some really awesome cards, with a very high hit to miss ratio. Unfortunately, after having mixed this expansion in with the main game and playing for a couple hours, it became clear that there were just too many duds. If I'm paying nine cents a card, I want the absolute hits! The best of the best! Not a card that has an icon of a ladle on it and then just the word "Ladle." This card, and many others in the expansion, feel too much like in-jokes that are probably hilarious to the designers and their circle of testers and just plain confusing to everyone else.

The best part of this expansion, therefore, is the blank cards. I humbly suggest that "Second Expansion" consist of nothing but blank cards. Then at least the in-jokes will be ones my friends and I actually understand.
